Their Eyes.

The speakers thump too loud

My boys are acting proud

                  Their eyes dilate

Into pits, dark of light

Bereft of care, they smite.

                   Their eyes burden with weight

That edifies my guilt,

While petals of reason wilt.

                   Their eyes castrate.

My mum taught me better

I wish I didn't sweat her

But tonight, I'm

             free.

So I take a shot

Throat burns sickly-hot

This isn't who I want to be.

So I snort a line

To lift my mood by design

This isn't who I want to see

So I decide to leave

It's innocence I grieve

This isn't what I want for me.
